• Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham called a special session for November 10, 2025. The Legislature appropriated $137 million to replace federal SNAP funds in the event of another disruption.

• The 2026 regular legislative session begins January 20, 2026.

Federal Funding Interim Stabilization Subcommittee

The Federal Funding Stabilization Subcommittee is meeting to review the impacts of federal funding cuts and federal policies on New Mexico.

They will make recommendations to the Legislative Finance Committee on whether the state should use a portion of its reserves to support New Mexicans.

Legislative Session 2026

The 2026 Legislative Session runs January 20 – February 19, 2026 and is a budget session.
